Hi there! My name is Jennifer Oliver, and I LOVE teaching first grade! In this blog you’ll find teacher tech tips, engaging resources, & classroom ideas for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students. I hope you are able to find value and inspiration in this blog. Since you found your way to this page, I do want to share a little about myself with you!

This is my 8th year teaching– I spent 2 years in 2nd grade and this is my 6th year in 1st grade. I absolutely LOVE everything first grade (besides teaching tricky word problems– who does?!), but I especially love teaching reading & phonics. My biggest goal each year is to help my students develop a love of reading that will stick with them for years to come! Teaching students to read and seeing the incredible growth that can happen in first grade is what gives me the greatest joy!

I love getting to use technology different ways in the classroom and utilizing tools and tricks to make my life easier using technology (which I hope to share with you)! One of my favorite discoveries during quarantine in 2020 was Boom Cards. Within (literally) hours of learning about Boom Cards, I was already creating decks for my students to use & have never looked back! You’ll find tons of Boom Cards resources in my TPT shop and this website, including helpful tips!

Some activities I enjoy are watching sports, traveling (a big fan of cruises!), shopping, & spending time with friends and family. I am a big Dallas Mavericks fan (#MFFL) and actually got engaged to my husband, Austin, at a game in April 2021. We just got married this past summer!
